in Manama & Bahrain
Long renowned as the “Pearl of the Gulf”, Bahrain is a destination with a fascinating history and a good variety of activities and locations to enjoy. Manama itself has plenty of culture, shopping and entertainment within a short distance of the hotel. Here are just some of the most popular places to visit for visitors of all tastes.
Al-Fatih Mosque (The Great Mosque)
With beautiful architecture and some amazing features, this famous site is one of the largest mosques in the world. Combining ancient and modern crafts, visitors will be enchanted by the exceptional craftsmanship on display. It is a wonderfully peaceful place even on the busiest of days in Bahrain. Multi-lingual guided tours are highly recommended. The site also includes the Ahmned Al-Fateh Islamic Centre and National Library.
Landmarks and Famous Architecture
There are some truly remarkable places to visit in Manama, from ancient to modern. The Bahrain International Circuit, home of the Bahrain Grand Prix, is a must for any motor racing fan. Or just opposite the Wyndham Grand you cannot help but admire the soaring Bahrain World Trade Centre, which contains a luxury shopping mall. Should you wish to admire a more historic site, however, Qalat al Bahrain is a spectacular ancient ruin and UNESCO site to visit with remarkable heritage and fine views.
Bahrain National Museum
For a lively tour of Bahrain’s history, look no further than this popular tourist attraction. Collections include ancient artefacts, a variety of old and new artworks and some interesting displays. Shopping and Suoqs
One of the biggest highlights of Bahrain for any visitor are the wonderful shops and Souqs (traditional market places). You can find treasures and rarities of so many kinds at these places, which are full of life and character. The largest of these sites in Manama is the Bab el-Bahrain Souk. For a more modern retail experience, there are also several excellent places to shop. One site well worth visiting is the Seef Mall, which has a huge selection of shops and eateries to explore. Alternatively, head for City Centre Bahrain or the newly developed Avenues Mall.
Wildlife Attractions and Islands
Bahrain has a vibrant coast with brilliantly clear waters and some amazing wildlife. Venture a little outside the main city centre and Al Areen Wildlife Park is worth a visit for both local and global wildlife in a relaxed outdoor setting. Bahrain also has some interesting islands, both natural and manmade. Al Dar Islands are just a short boat trip from Manama too. Besides sunny beaches and places to relax and socialize, the site also has activities such as scuba diving, kayaking and sailing.
Waterparks in Bahrain
On a hot day in Bahrain, little beats a swim and a day of fun at the waterpark! Manama has two of these attractions, the Lost Paradise of Dilmun and Wahooo! Waterpark. Both make great family days out, with many slides and features to enjoy.
